These are far and away my favorite places to stay in the Scottish isles. They’re extremely rustic with coal-burning stoves you’re meant to light yourself, don’t have regular staff, and — like many things in the Hebrides — operate on an honor system. They also happen to be in absolutely beautiful settings. I especially recommend the Berneray and Rhenigidale locations; if you’re heading to Rhenigidale, take the Postman’s Walk one or both ways from Tarbert for an hike with incredible views.
